| In nearly every home across
the globe, there is a wooden door, a passageway through which we may
enter and discover a world rich in culture, tradition, and the mores
of the day. What lies beyond the wooden door speaks volumes. We know
this from our own homes. We create them in a way that mirrors our
selves, from the recipes we cook to the art we put on the walls, to
all those touches in between that for us are second nature. Because
of this, each door holds something unique and beautiful behind it.
We at Wooden Door Imports believe that the opening of these doors
and the respectful sharing of cultures bring about a new sense of
home, a connection with our near and distant neighbors that will enrich
our lives on a daily basis.
Part of our mission is to give further recognition to the artists and artisans who in some way or another contributed to Wooden Door Imports and to the countries themselves where the collection originated. We will purchase works of unknown artisans much of the time, but hope at least to bring awareness of their culture and skills to our customers through this site. When we do know the artist we will list their names and email if available. If anyone wishes further information about them please email us. Visit the Mexico page to read more about the country as well as our links page for further information on the web.
We would also like to give recognition to those people, artists,
travelers, and others, who have helped make this web site a reality.
Below we give our special thanks to
Jackie Pellot, digital photographer, whose work graces these
pages in the Mexico Collection. Also many thanks to Michelle
Dahl, photographer, who gave of her time and talent for the
photographs of the Tibet Collection. And to our Tibetan team Rachel
Park and Drew Failes who without their wanderings, we
would not have the Tibet Collection! Check them all out!
Thank you and enjoy!
