What makes our collections so special is that each item is a one
of a kind piece that we have handpicked for its beauty and cultural
representation. We believe this promises an outstanding quality
to our collection that cannot be duplicated. It also means as soon
as you fall in love with a piece, you should buy it, as it might
be gone when you return! And when ordering through our shopping
cart, always leave the item amount set to one! One exception to
that rule is when purchasing the limited edition prints of artist,
Tom Savageau in the Native American Portraits collection.

The
Mexico Collection
This collection may be best described as a contemporary collection of the senses, reflecting the passion and artfulness of the Mexican people. We immediately fell in love with the bold colors, the reds, yellows and greens that conjure feelings of joy and a celebration of life. While at the same time, we saw many examples of elegant finery that coupled lush textures with highly refined design. What in the end dominates this collection is the very genuine use of rustic materials such as wood, clay, copper and wool that give a strong feeling of the land and the creative sense of those who work with it.
The
Tibet Collection
Brought to us by two veteran travelers and lovers of Tibet, Rachel
Park and Drew Failes, this collection represents both the spiritual
and secular lives of Tibetans past and present. Predominantly composed
of antique pieces from the early 20th century, the Tibet collection
prides in royal colors and rich patinas as well as an overwhelming
sense of steadfast spirituality. Unique to this collection is the
spill over into surrounding countries who share many of the beliefs
and traditions of the Tibetan people such as India, Thailand, and
Indonesia. The handwork is incredible and fully reflective of this
beautiful land.
Native
American Portraits, by Tom Savageau
This collection of Native American portraits, by artist
Tom Savageau is truly inspiring.
Each piece achieves a beautiful and focused balance of depth and
simplicity while gently forcing the viewer to become intimate with
the subject. Savageau's work is respectful and passionate, reflectiving
his own deep connection with his Native American heritage. It is
truly a pleasure to feature his work in one of our collections as
his approach lies very close to what Wooden Door Imports hopes to
achieve in our goal to present cultural respect and understanding
as harmony and home.
